I Don't Know

by Zamounde the Footstepper

I keep coming to this conclusion
When people do ignorant things
When smart people act dumb
When the dumbies make it beyond
When smart people fail to run
When we trust fools for lack of options
When some cry and die for preventables
Why so many of us (including me), drop dreams
I don't know

I keep coming to this conclusion
We keep reaching and reaching
Still so much changes so fast
In our minds we wish without feet
Awaken by birthdays and lack of cake
Others coming up in the rear replaces you
You continue to step without
Hopes pending on timing
We latch on to whatever comes first
I don't know

I keep coming to this conclusion
When people I love change on me
When family are less respected than friends
When reunions are battles over jobs
When others secret dials show up on your phone bill
When people praise you in your face-
and back stab on the same dime multiplied
I don't know

I don't know
I don't know
Is it an illusion
Bringing me to this moment
I can't bring back the sixties, seventies, eighties
or nineties when I was alive
So I was reborn in the two double zero three
Awaiting four and ever more...That's me!
