What's Civil In Right

by Zamounde the Footstepper

What say you of civil rights
If it doesn't include more than black and white
Excluding humans one at a time
To be politically impolite
My love's beyond matters of the eye

Heated thoughts that fly do more damage tomorrow
Like seeds planted that grow without light
Erupting from words spread like lice
Love should be the thing that's right
Not to concern yourself with civil rights

For what say civil rights if true love is in sight
I grew up like so many of us today
Reading books and only feeling the mosquito bites of
the crimes of yesterday

We love to demand rights that are God given and man
prohibited
We love to scream from our confusion in the midst of
the drama
We forget that bullets are just technologically
improved stones
Propelled by the same hate
Planted by the same evil spirit
traveling to and fro in man
Don't scream civil rights
Don't demand anything
less than your greatest potential...
Your right to civilization
It doesn't mean a right to do as you please
