Against the grain
In my brain
Between in and sane
I held back the pain
You released in my heart
'Cause it felt good to hold that part
The good pain
A woman like you start
The change in the brain
That drives the body insane
Openin' new stores
Bringin' life to these old shores
Only to go back against the grain
Like waves over waves
I sustain
Eyes express that pain
Of not fallin' in love with you
I bled sunshine
Arose with a crook in my spine
Too much wine
The two on my shoulder's guided and misguided me
I tripped when you left
"How did my Pringles taste last night?"
A question to which the answer I hope only you knew
 Between in and sane
Against the grain in the brain
I held back the pain
But put a mental hit on all
That shall feel you
That's what Cin' did to me
Like a thermometer
My blood shot downstairs
And stood me up on the dance floor
I'd bumped with every woman except…..
Cin' who sat and conversed
Eyes lasered the room for a second and locked on to me
I became hard as a rock
But fluidly like Private stock
Dancing and lookin' at you
The music carried my words so smooth
I know you heard what I said
Like birds over your head
These words
" 'Cause like no other
I can love ya'
Without being your lover "
