To A Friend

                     Don't give up
                        Wisdom
                   That which you do
You said it in your own words
               Spreadin' like the birds
                    You are wisdom
                Like a flower blooming
All that awaits you is spring
              Pollinated by each syllable
                No obstacle unreachable
                   You are teachable
                  Therefore a teacher
                   With spoken wings
Can they hear the birds sing?
As long as the message you bring
                   Spreads the seed

                    Don't give up
                        Wisdom
                 What is your destiny
The flight has worn your soul
Rest for awhile and then fly some mo'
                  Wisdom is not given
                     It's planted
               And with water and light
                       It grows
                     Just like you
                         Akili
              It's just winter that's all

To my sista' Stacey "Akili" James, a friend and poet.
