Mandingo Warrior

by Victor A. Young

Mandingo warrior, hear the words I pray.

Spoken from a land far, far away.

Families stolen from long ago.

Still trying to survive and no direction to go.

Men like you and me are hunted as prey.

Admired as a great prize gone astray.

Mandingo, Assante, Zulu, and all the other tribes.

Hear my prayers as the wind transcribes.

Hear my word I pray, from a land far, far away.

That my children may see their home some day.
