Cherish The Day

The soft sounds of Fantasia Barrino sultry voice, singing the remake of of Summertime, emcompassed the living room. The lone woman, set on her lounger gazing out her bedroom window, nourishing a hot cup of raspberry tea. Her brown eyes were haunted. She looked up toward the sky. The heavens were kissed with soft billowy clouds, tempting its watchers to reach out, and touch them.

If one were to look long and hard enough at them the clouds patterns would take shape and tell its watchers a story. She would do that as a child. Make up stories from clouds patterns. The woman sighed.

The patterns of her life were taking shape and boy did she have a story. Taking a sip from her steaming brew, she smiled bitterly. She had just received good news and was contemplating sharing it with another. Her husband. You see she is with child and she is very afraid to share her good news in fear that something might go awry. Do not fault her. It has happened before. Complications. Losses. Hurt and pain. Many times before.

You see she had several complications in conceiving and carrying and this was the longest she has carried. Fear had its claws embedded, painfully and deeply into her; thus overshadowing her joy. Stealing her belief that she too could be happy. She just needed sometime to think things through. No. She needed to talk to her, Daddy. He always knows what to say and what to do. ALWAYS.

"God? I need to talk to you." Bowing her head, she closed her eyes. "You know my situation. Therefore, I am going to be honest with you. I am afraid...I do not want to lose this gift I am carry." She rubbed her growing mound. The tears began to flow. "I lost too many times. Hurt too many times. I want to bring forth life."

Something within her burst free. Finally! For far too long she held back her pain. She cauterized her emotions. She felt she had to do this, to keep her sanity intact. Refusing to identify and deal with the problem. But, this time was different. She wanted... no. She needed to bring forth this child. It was frightening at first. The sound coming forth, was simply heart wrenching.

She felt as if she was having an outer body experience, as all this was foreign to her. She never cried. She never identified her hurt and released it. It was time. She knew she needed this healing process to take place. The cup fell to the floor and she followed its descent. Curling up into a fetal position, she purged herself from the pain of loss, disappointments, and rejections.

She tried to stop crying but could not. It was as if a dam had broken. She couldn't stop them. They had to be released and she let them flow. Flow her tears. Flow her tears. She cried until her eyes were swollen. She cried until she became hoarse. She cried until, there were no more tears to cry. She cried until she fell asleep.

Silence. She opened her eyes, her brows furrowing in confusion. She realized she was lying on the floor. Turning her head toward the window, she saw a bird soaring above the clouds. She smiled at the sign and interpretated its meaning.

"I am ready to soar into my destiny." She laughed softy. I sense this is a female child I am carrying. Her name shall be called Cherish," She laughed again. "I wish cherish this and every day with you. My dear Cherish." She was giddy with happiness and she boldly embraced it. "You shall be born little one." Her voice was strong with a hint of command in it. You are destined to live and so is your mother” Standing up she swirled happily in a circle. "I am not afraid of destiny." Stopping she placed her right hand on her womb. The babe leaped.

She began to laugh, cry, and the same time. How could she not tell her husband, this wonderful news? She did have a choice. She would declaw the teeth of fear and embraced destiny's call. As if affirming her self-proclamation, the babe leaped again with in her. "It is all good baby. It's all good." She patted her soft mound. The bird released a powerful cry. It sent chills coursing through her. The cry reminded her of her earlier ruminations. She smiled. "It is all good and it is good to be me." With that, she set out to tell her Husband the good news.

The raptor soared higher and higher until it disappeared beyond the clouds and the Sun. It continued its ascent higher and higher beyond the Earth. The woman was well deserving. She endured much and it was time for her to be happy. Her faith was the kind that brought about changes. The bird flew higher and higher until it reached its destination. Divesting its self from the raptors form; the being looked at the woman running to her husband, to tell him the good news. He nodded in approval. It is good.
