Urban Revelation

by Shani Cruz

The beginning of the end
Scattered into
the atmosphere
broken
floating pieces
Shoving your feces
down the throat
while millions promote it
Brainwashed and senseless
Exploiting black worth
through mass production
Loud percussion
Clever wordplay
Metaphors that scream
the torture of enslavement
Give me my
freedom
of speech
but it's like you
pulling me into
murky waters
Choking on virtue
as the media laughs
profiting from
your demise
My daughter
disguised
in videos
though they
do not define
beautiful to me
Others follow
blindly searching
for their soul
Even if I wake up
and find I'm alone
I believe we have
infinite possibilities
to grow
to love
to inspire
to find peace
I'm a stranger on earth
Can't impose
my thoughts on you
Sipping lime juice
Exchanging life verse
with diverse minds
My revelation
is copy written
Underrated
but some attention
would be nice
