The Arrival

by Rukiya Faizah

time passes -- Black masses loose touch with their identity
brainwashed, trained, and joshed…kings and queens became a subhuman entity
in the eyes of those who oppress for their own success
merciless they keep us bound…melt our crowns…impound our pride
(u unjustified cultural homicide u)
stripped of our names, our religions, our histories and the motherland
brought to another land that’s demoralized and criminalized and uncivilized
my people murdered by the legionnaires, the knights and the klan
forced to build a nation for “the man” and his economic plans
beat with whips of degradation for thoughts of education, liberation,
and unification
the manipulation of our minds and the beat-down of our souls
momentarily decomposed our power and exposed a weaker hour
year 2000 and mind-sets are still sour for the pain of our past
which I call “hells overcast”…but ~ it was never meant to last
it was said in the prophecy that the day would come
when the African would no longer know the beats of his drum
we rose from one form of enslavement and slipped right into another
full of bullshit standards to rape our minds ~ put brother against brother
but our people are embraced by the spirit of the Divine
so it is only a matter of time before our rhythms will again climb
to the top of every mountain in a fountain of pure bliss
passionate to the arrival of a new genesis
a time where it will be like it was when it first began
claiming the sweetness of the land will be
the African
the original man
