Summer Sun In Spring

by Nigel S. Daring

A gale of fresh wind hails summer's coming
The sun turned up the thermostat to 80 plus in the Spring
Off the roads, waves of heat rise like snakes climbing
The streets complain as much more feet graze their skin

Laughter and good cheer in the air
Parades, festivals, carnivals here, there and everywhere
Grandma's sitting out front on her rocking chair
Children play childhood games without care

Beat boxes by their names can't be turned low
Dance club masked in the form of car stereo
A song on the radio
"Summer's in the air, don't you know"
