Contradictions

by Nigel S. Daring

Precious are the contradictions of life’s boundaries
Male and female, stone and water
War and peace, love and hate
Definition finds itself in anti-definition
Desire bound in time’s embrace seeks escape from insecurity
Wholeness conceived in the other, an ideal imaginable with love

Relativistic realities seem another kind of pain concealed
“It could’ve been worse”, “At least we’re better off than…”
Such thoughts slight the obvious,
A sense of being derived from degrees
Essentially, all are trapped in the same degradation

The alternate flies free unbound by misery
Unbound by death and the infinite degrees thereof
The reality of happiness caught in free flow
with an inscription “The Absolute Truth”
Faithlessness seals disbelievers in hopeless affection
There they go again, conceiving but disbelieving
