Water Bearer's Melody

by Nigel S. Daring

Miles to go before I sleep
The children thirst for living water
So far to go, so these tears I weep
Immortality on my head for the cupbearer

In life, the desert, never an oasis to be found
Digging mercilessly, hopelessly for love out of hot ground
I shout out so they can hear the sound
of a truth that’s destined to come around

Miles to go before I sleep
The children thirst for living water
So far to go, so these tears I weep
Immortality on my head for the cupbearer

Weight on my head and the burden on their heart
The hope in my vessel and the fear in their cart
The sorrow they’ve borne from the very start
Was indeed for them nothing but a poison dart

Miles to go before I sleep
The children thirst for living water
So far to go, so these tears I weep
Immortality on my head for the cupbearer

Trapped in this place so long
Yet remaining so strong
They are my people who’ve borne wrong
They sent the Aquarian and now I sing this song

Miles to go before I sleep
The children thirst for living water
So far to go, so these tears I weep
Immortality on my head for the cupbearer

I’ve got to go, find strength not in my limbs
If I disappoint, it should be counted a sin
They decided they must win
It is in me they put their hopes for a victory to bring
