Katisha Burt says her poetry has not appeared in any major magazines outside of her school presses or campus literary magazine. She is twenty-five years old and has been writing for ten years. She says "I've recently realized that writing is something that I can't bring myself to stop doing. I spend a great deal of time writing and familiarizing myself with certain genres."

She is a full-time senior and an African-American Studies Major with a Double Minor in Theatre/English. She is currently working full-time as a parking lot attendant for the city of Albany, New York.
