Illusion

by Judith A. Middlebrooks

There comes a point in time,
where we listen to our minds
and recognize that time is well spent or not.
Is it just illusion?

Who is to say that the rejuvenation
or the jubilation we feel is real
or just temporary appeal?
Is it just illusion?

What happens when we feel that instant attraction,
that temporary satisfaction,
the momentary gratification
given to us with the combining
of our energy, spirit and soul.
Is it just illusion?

We look into each other’s eyes
searching deep for that connection.
We touch, we feel, we experiment
hoping for a reflection of time well spent
and some degree of growth.
Is it just illusion?

All of the combinations of spiritual,
physical, emotional, matter not.
For if they are not real, it matters not sex appeal,
only the real deal Holyfield,
if not, then it is faked out.
Is it just illusion?

Let us examine the time spent,
the loss of energy, space, and matter,
brain power, neurons firing,
synapses sending messages of light
and reasoning reaching a final intelligent conclusion.
It must be real or it is illusion.
