John D. Evans grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Morris Brown
College in Atlanta, Georgia with Cum Laude honors in the spring of 1996 with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Marketing. In the Spring of 2002, Evans earned a Master of Arts
in Special Education from Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois. In the Spring
of 2005, Evans earned a Master of Arts in Education School Improvement and Leadership
from Olivet-Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
Evans is author and founder of The Evans Poetry Collection (TEPC, Inc.): Acres of
Green and Oceans of Blue: Diary of a Runaway (2000), More Than a Club Kid: Man
Versus Self (2002), Things That Make My World Go 'Round: A Poetic Memoir (2003),
and How Deep I Can Be: Lessons and Confessions (2004), Diary of a Renaissance Man (2007).

Currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Education, Evans is a member of the Poetry
Society of America, the Academy of American Poets, the Kappa Delta Pi National Honor
Society of Education, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc. John D.
Evans resides in Oak Park, Illinois and continues to inspire poets around the nation
through five grassroots, non-profit organizations: The Friends of TEPC, Inc., The
Sisterhood of TEPC, Inc. (incarcerated female poets), The Brotherhood of TEPC, Inc.
(incarcerated male poets), The Children of TEPC, Inc. (ages 5-12) and Teens for TEPC,
Inc. (ages 13-19).
