Piece Out To Revolution

by Jamilla Johnson

wasn't it you who told me to go
i don't remember stealing you from your land interrupting your flow
i thought it was my people chained from head to toe
you were calling us names making us feel low

now you telling us to go back
yeah well you could have just let us be enjoying it to be black
instead you stripped us of our heritage with every whip smack
so kill all that noise cause you're sounding wack

i can envision myself in my ancestor's coat
wit them heavy ass chains round my throat
you just stand there and gloat
while are sardine-packed on that horrendous boat

now vague is the land from whence i came
i don't know who i am or my name
it is to you that i give the blame
you knew things would never be the same

on columbus day we celebrate one man's intrusion
upon a land he thought was india not knowing his illusion
but we are the racists because we want to start a revolution
to end the continuous oppression but there's no conclusion

on martin luther king day we celebrate his dream
to be judged on character whether your skin is mahagony or cream
but some insist that one race over another is supreme
while others try to plot a genocide scheme

there is only one race
a perfection of GOD made in the image of HIS face
designed complete with HIS grace
so give a piece out to revolution up in this place
