Black Love Birthing

by Trina Williams-Emigh

Yesterday was the season
Our seed was sown
And I was given a reason
To make it known
That you gathered me
In abundance
For picking
Our progeny
Constantly kicking
And you loved me
Attending Sweetly
Your adoration
Nothing could disguise
Forever and a lifetime
Shown in your eyes
And I labored
Giving life to the future
Of our
Tomorrow’s Opportunity
From yesterday’s
Between us two
And we’ve stayed
Dear to each other
Through season change
While seeds flourished
As youth waned
Our souls remained nourished
And now this lifetime of forever
Is coming to a close
And only heaven knows
Of this love we’ve shared
That gave root
Through the seed
We beared.
