Nita

by Dr. Billy Ingram

A tribute to Mother, Anna Juanita Ingram

Nita, God showed out when He made you that day,
It was no easy task, being called to guide my way.
Nita, you're the absolute best that God could give,
You taught me how to love, live, fight and give.

Nita, you started early pointing me to God in my youth,
God must have told you that I was called to preach His truth.
Nita, you fed me, you beat me, and cut me no slack,
And I'm pressing on in this race, and never looking back.

Nita, you told me it's their problem if they call you a nigga,
That's a struggle in this world, but I rise, knowing I'm bigga.
Nita, you have been strong and outspoken too!
Maybe, that's why when I speak, it holds people like glue.

Nita, you said I should dream in life and go far,
Now, Nita, look at me, they say I'm a shining star.
Nita, you are my hero, and the wind beneath my wings,
It's too late, I'm already convinced, that I can do all things.
