Can You Burn?

by Stanley Boyson

it started as an innocent challenge.
can you, or can you not cook?
the line was now drawn,
i knew that, when I saw that sista-girl look.

who r you to front me on something like that?
just cuz yo mama cooked all the damn time,
that donít make you no critic.
more than a few done got fat off of mine.

you ainít never even been in my kitchen before
and this skillet ainít no paper weight.
have a seat out of the way brotha man
when im done, you can take your mama a plate.

how about some porkchops sauteed in gravy?
cooked so tender they fall off the bone.
smothered potatoes with onions and cheese
this is the reason my daddy never left home.

donít say nothing about eggs non-believer
i can bust them out any way you like.
mama's recipe for biscuits was the bomb
donít make enough and daddy's ready to fight.

eat as much as you like, its all for you
home grown recipes that just wont quit
bet you ain't thinkin about your mama now
remember, you the one that started this sh.t

yeah, your mama's cookin may have been nice
but cookin props I dont have to earn
you can call me out on anything you like
but never ask me if I can burn
