The Corporate Poison Pill

by B.T. Bonner

Why must we take the corporate pill
are we that ill that we have no will
bound by no frills it chokes,
it kills
the babies lying in the street left for dead
with no one to mend their split head
our health bill stands alone
like the little man outside in the lobby
on his concrete throne
beside the fallacy of their hospital's policy
this lawsuit ecology
that picks and chooses its philosophy
based on the economic monopoly
and the "have not's" of this economy
still left out of the sale
till election time comes and they have to pay their bills
but still no frills
from the corporate pill
HMO whore's stand inside the doors
{hell lady}
don't stand there and glare all night
you swore an oath so do what's right
our lives are the policy on which you heed
but deny us comfort in our time of need
there's no way to justify that greed
that poison pill on which you feed
us, the people
who don't pull your card
we just sit low in a funeral yard
and swallow the poison pills
while waving a flag for Bill
the 'stick dick doctor' with no remedy,
nor just cause
to answer for the crumble of our system-addict walls
while we lie on our faces
displaced races
swallowing the tylenol that leaves no traces
or life, or will,
just victims of the corporate poison pill
